Code of conduct for ExoExplorers cohort members

The ExoExplorers organizers are committed to making this cohort program a productive and enjoyable experience for all participants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity and gender expression, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, age, disability, or any other legally protected characteristic. By participating in Exoplanet Explorers, you agree to abide by Caltech's Nondiscrimination and Equal Employment Opportunity policy and Unlawful Harassment policy.

Participants are expected to be kind to others and to behave professionally:

  • Do not insult or put down other participants: critique ideas, not people.

  • Be especially considerate and supportive of those more junior in their careers than yourself.

  • Harassment in any form, including sexist, racist, or other exclusionary comments or jokes is never appropriate, nor is behavior that disrupts meetings or other cohort events.

  • All communication should be appropriate for a professional audience of people from many different backgrounds.

Participants should keep cohort-only meeting links and materials confidential. No audio or visual recordings (including screenshots) should be made of cohort-only events without explicit permission from the presenter and all participants who would appear in the recording or image.
