55 Cancri f is an ice giant exoplanet that orbits a G-type star, like the Sun. It has a mass 0.14 x that of Jupiter, takes 262 days to complete one orbit of its star, and is 0.788 AU from its star. Its discovery was announced in March 2008. In 2015, the public voted to give it the name "Harriot," which was approved by the International Astronomical Union, after the English astronomer who first drew the moon from telescopic observations. The other planets in the system are also named for famous astronomers and telescope inventors of the Renaissance.
