Where the nightlife never ends
Rogue planets are some of the most mysterious worlds in our galaxy. They are unbound to any star, so they travel in darkness, orbiting the galactic center.
The planet-forming process can be chaotic, with violent collisions. Occasionally such a crash could knock a planet away from its parent star.
Unless the ejected planet managed to drag along a moon, it would be destined to wander the galaxy alone.
It might not even take a crash to eject a planet. When planets get close, it changes their velocity. One could pick up enough speed to keep going… away from the system! Under other circumstances, this is known as a "gravity assist."
Planets could still glow from the heat of the formation for millions of years.
Artists chose monochromatic colors to highlight the lack of starlight on these dark worlds, though in reality they could be deep red.
"Where the nightlife never ends," came before the art on this poster, which was also influenced by ‘"The Great Gatsby."
